Hello, how are you? I'm here to provide an update. These days I've been talking to a friend about how complex any simple project can become. So on one hand, we have to decide which builder to work with, and on the other, which plugin to use for creating a business directory and a real estate site.
I chose to continue working with Gutenberg and GenerateBlocks to emulate a real estate template I liked from Astra. I started using HivePress very enthusiastically at the beginning. However, after almost two weeks and losing vast amounts of time correcting simple details, I see that HivePress has a bottleneck with taxonomies.
Creating the categories and attributes has been about viewing and copying from other real estate sites. I'm somewhat satisfied with how it's turning out.
I recommended a video to this friend, who is facing a different kind of block, where they create a directory with Breakdance and Advanced Custom Fields. While looking for this video, I saw several from Mr Web's YouTube channel.
He has a video from a few months ago recommending HivePress, a more recent one where he creates a real estate website with the Estatik plugin, and another recent one where he builds a directory using the Directorist plugin. What blew my mind was seeing comparisons on the WP Hive portal.
There, Elementor is rated higher than Kadence Blocks and Spectra. It turns out that Stackable has good performance and GenerateBlocks really uses few resources.
On the other hand, Directorist performs better than HivePress and Geodirectory.
I didn't find comparisons with Breakdance or Bricks.
I'll probably go ahead with the real estate website using HivePress and finish it, but for future projects, I think I'll use Directorist.
Regarding the builders, I will definitely try Breakdance and Bricks; Droid has caught my attention, and although I have always refused to use Elementor, I don't mind using it to create something with Directorist.
However, after so much time using Gutenberg, especially Astra and Spectra, I feel cheated. The amount of time lost on Gutenberg to configure simple things is insane.
